WELCOME & MERRY CHRISTMAS 2013 ! I had an excellent first Christmas card blog starting a few years ago when a posterous.com was still an active domain, and when they promised that they would be here for us "forever" and then a year later sold out to twitter or somebody.
And of course you could "backup" some of your sites but never truly in the way they were created...so once again I have to START OVER. Hopefully, we can count on google & blogger to stay with us for a long time, maybe even "forever" if not eternally.
And so as I was saying, several years ago, even before the first blog devoted to it, I started putting serious and significant time into making meaningful contact with people via Christmas cards . And as time has gone by it has served as a theological reminder of the importance of the Body of Christ.
And "importance" is to put it mildly. Perhaps the "vital necessity" of the Body of Christ...since when we celebrate the birthday of Jesus and sing all of our songs to "Him", we should be reminded that we are also singing and celebrating ourselves and eachother, in essence the "full body of Christ" which is the body of believers.
This is why it is impossible for us, if we are truly "in Christ" to neglect other believers near and far. It would be like a person neglecting their own human body. It would be like one's left hand competing with one's right hand...thinking or saying "I am better or more important than you..." .
To be TRULY "in Christ" we recognize and appreciate the importance of the believer to our left & right just as much as ourself, our family members, et al. We TRULY care about eachother. And not only other believers, but we also yearn to "graft" more persons into the True Vine, the Body of Christ,and therefore we are also caring and kind towards unbelievers, even enemies, even those who persecute us, who insult us, who may even want us to die.
We CARE that somehow someway the Love of Christ will melt their heart and that they will become part of our body...the more the merrier, the bigger the better !
And so everytime I write a Christmas card I am thinking of such a connection as I write to fellow believers and some unbelievers, even some who would probably rather not hear from me, and in some cases I just send "anonymous" Christmas cards.
So I will be posting some examples of my Christmas cards online as time goes by, hoping they will be enlightening and inspirational.
